Hello.

My name is Kim, Founder and Lead Instructor for “Return 2 Recess” and a big believer in play – for people of all ages!

Here’s a little background for how I got here.

Throughout the years, I've learned and I've dabbled. I've honed not only my areas of content and craft, but also have learned patience, the ability to pivot and, thankfully, the importance of harnessing joy in many forms. This has weaved beautifully into my personal life where my love of nature and movement - and stillness - is a daily offering. When we are, truly, present, we may develop a genuine appreciation of the simpler things. I've also learned from many others, in the Educational field as well as a solo practitioner. My teachers, if you will, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Now, I seek to bring those lessons to you.

I am a retired Health and Physical Education Teacher with a Masters in The Health Sciences and Health Education and a Bachelors in Physical Education. During the latter part of my career, I had worked with Exceptional Children with a range of emotional, mental and physical conditions requiring adaptation to many of their activities along with goals for their success. Most importantly, though, I learned that individuals have many beautiful gifts, all very unique. My students were some of my greatest teachers, actually, and I was thankful to be their student. I also enjoyed roles of Athletics Director and Coach long before endeavoring into the educational space. After retiring, I developed a Health Coaching practice, partnering with my clients on their health journeys, one on one, in person so that they felt part of a team. Again, more wonderful teachers. These relationships led to the creation of other health programs that I've happily managed and grown and which have brought many others joy and connection. The greatest takeaway, aside from seeing others thrive, was learning that working together, we can accomplish so much more.

Return 2 Recess is a culmination of all these efforts and experiences and is now expanding an outlet for play that focuses on amusing types of activity – but in a non-competitive, relaxed and supportive setting. It’s a wonderful way to release the pressures you carry and a chance to get creative, to meet others who endeavor to do the same and to walk away changed; lighter, freer and with a joyful feeling that will stay with you long after class ends.

Come play, come back to Recess!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
